Leonce Collins, a 20-year New Orleans tour guide with a solid work history in the beverage industry in marketing and sales, will present a brief overview description of the History of New Orleans, the interesting sites to see, and interesting facts about New Orleans, the interesting sites to see, and interesting facts about New Orleans. Then attendees will board a New Orleans Charter Bus and Leonce will continue by leading a narrated tour through the French Quarter on Decanter Street where you will see sights such as:
The Oldest Cathedral in America (1781)
The Cabildo where the Louisiana Purchase was signed
The statue of General Jackson in Jackson Square who defeated the British at the Battle of New Orleans
The Oldest Coffee Shop - Cafe Du Monde (Since 1862) open 24 hr. a day (closes only on Christmas)
The St. Louis Cemetery #3
All of this will be followed by a drive through the Garden District area to see beautiful antebellum homes on St Charles Avenue.
Leonce Collins is married with five children, and he and his wife, Phyllis, live in the French Quarter. He served in the Military in 1961-1963 in France, completed Food Service School, and was a French interpreter for the Cous of Engineers in France. Leonce speaks English and French and received his education at LSU in Business Marketing; Tulane, where he completed the Design & Implement the Annual Marketing Seminar; Loyola, where he completed the Microsoft Computer Engineering Course - MSSE+1; and he has participated in many postgraduate education programs thru Dr. Pepper Corporate, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and Xerox.
Leonce spent 14 years as a Marketing Manager for Corporate Dr. Pepper Co. in Dallas TX; 3 years as VP of Sales & Marketing for a Pepsi Bottler in Louisiana; 16 years as a Director of Sales & Marketing for a Group of five Coca-Cola Bottlers in Mississippi; and 8 years as Regional Sales Manager in Louisiana for Mountain Valley Spring Water Co. in Hot Springs, AR. He has spent 20 years as a licensed Tour Guide in New Orleans.
Leonce is Past President of The Baton Rouge Jaycees; Jaycees International Senator Past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus in Starkville, Board Member of the Golden Triangle Crime Stopper in Mississippi; Served on the Mississippi Soft Drink Bottlers Association; Past President of the Condo Association in the French Quarter; and Twice Keynote speaker for the Marketing Department at Mississippi State University. An avid computer guru, Leonce enjoys giving salesmanship talks, guiding tours in New Orleans, reading golf and football (Saints).
